Remote For Dvd Player Dvp3140

The remote for my Phillips DVD player DVP2140 no longer works. It won't power up the DVD and none of the buttons appear to function. I tried everything in the DVD manual for troubleshooting--new batteries, aiming it correctly, etc-- without results. I'm thinking perhaps the bulb is out but I don't see any way of opening the remote to change the bulb. Do I need a new remote?

I think you've done just about all you can do. You'll likely need to buy a new remote. Then again it could be the IR receiver on the DVD player as well so there's no gaurantee a new remote would work. It might be best to try programming a universal remote first if you have one.
