My Wife Pfaff Performance Icon Sewing Machine Started Freezing Up A Few Days Ago

my wifes performance icon sewing machine started freezing up after sewing for a few minutes. it might work fine for a minute might go for 20 minutes. when she stop sewing an lifts the foot to reposition the fabric then it refuses to let you lower the foot, lower the needle with the button, or use the foot control to start sewing. everything on machine seems to freeze up. if you touch any button on the machine it just makes a "bonk" noise. she has to turn off and restart to sew again, till it freezes up again. any help would be great. thanks
