How To Install The Driver Seat Motor In A 2004 Oldsmobile Silhouette

First, you will need to disconnect the battery.

Unbolt the seat from the floor mounts.

Remove the failed power seat motor from the seat assembly.

If you are using a used motor, make sure to completely test it; making sure that it works properly, prior to mounting the motor to the seat. If you skip this step, you'll pay for it later if the motor isn't functioanl and you've assembled everything.

After testing it, the motor is mounted to the seat.

The entire seat assembly can now be bolted back into place. Make sure that you properly torque the floor mounting bolts to the correct torque. Seats are a critical safety item and they have to be PROPERLY torqued. If you over-torque a seat mounting bolt, it could fail due to the extra torque stress on it.

With everything back in place, you can now re-attach the battery and you are done.

If you want additional in-depth info, you should purchase a set of the Factory Service Manuals. They are not cheap, but they are priceless when it comes to the amount of data they contain. Get the real GM manuals, not the aftermarket ones.
