Knob For Climate Control - A/c Won't Work?

The knob came off of the lever for climate control, and the a/c blows hot air, and in the winter blows cold.  When we push the lever in the climate control will work, but since we can't get the lever to stay in, the a/c and heater won't work.  Is there anything that I can do myself to fix this?  Thanks so much!
