Screen Stays Black

The screen of my camera stays black when I turn it on. Only when shooting a video does the screen work

I read the user manual. I though that perhaps there was some bbatery save option to do what you are describing but found none.

Are you sure the battery is good? Sounds like a power save thing to me.

Page 69 discusses an option for displaying various things on the display at power on. One option is to display a captured image. Could it be trying to display a blank image?

Page 84 discusses resetting all options back to factory default. I'm not sure how customized you have it but it may be worth a try to reset it back to factory to clear out any glitches.

If all else fails you may need to simply send the camera in for service.
