1.) The channel (frequency) that the router is operating on is getting interference from other devices in the house (portable phones, cell phones, microwaves ect) to change the channel, you can log into your router by using a computer that is directly connected to the router, first open any internet browser, and in the address bar type: 192.168.0.1 OR 192.168.1.1 then you should be greeted with a prompt to add your username and password, generally the default username is admin or administrator, and the password is password or (blank) or 1234. Once logged in, look for wireless settings option.
In the wireless settings option you should see an option called channel or wireless channel or channel frequency. just select a channel that is at least four channels higher or lower than the current one selected. Save settings and test.
2.) the problem could be related to the drivers for your netgear n300, go to the netgear website select support home, enter your model number, then download appropriate drivers for your version of windows, update and test.
I hope this helps!
