Actually, switching sim cards only works for other carriers like AT&T.  It won't work at all on Net10.  Every phone is tied to its own particular sim card and they're not interchangeable.  But you can go on their website BEFORE you activate your new phone and enter the required info and transfer your phone number to the new phone that way.  If it works correctly, it's a trouble-free transaction.  In my experience, you'll hit a glitch somewhere and have to call customer service.  So I'd be prepared for that with a land line and a paperback novel.  Or you could try their Facebook page, which has relatively quick customer service via email.  The good news with email is, the English is understandable on both sides, unlike the toll-free number.
