Please refer to the given links below to add new websites to your favorites folder & to have that folder shown in the top toolbox on the Mozilla main page.
Create bookmark directly into a folder
Display your favorite websites at the top of the Firefox window
How to use bookmarks to save and organize your favorite websites

(As far as I know, all versions of Firefox feature "bookmarks" instead of other browsers' "favorites," so I'll use that terminology.)
To add a website to a bookmarks folder, just click ctrl+D from that website. You'll then be able to select the folder.
Firefox enables a bookmarks toolbar which by default, I believe, appears across the top, although below the tab bar. This is separate from the bookmarks menu, although Firefox's terminology on that point is inconsistent. The menu proper is by default at the side.
The best thing about Firefox is that almost anything can be changed, with any of the huge number of add-ons available. Go to https://addons.mozilla.org/.
For further concerns, an excellent resource and one of the very best forums around is Mozillazine, at http://forums.mozillazine. Or write us again at Help Owl.
