Setting Individual Ringtones

The default notification and ringtone (which will apply to all calls other than customed ones) are set in Settings -> Sound. To set a custom ringtone to individual contacts: Open the Contacts app. Scroll down to the contact you want to change and press it to open it. Press the Menu button on the front of the phone. Press Option from the menu Press Ringtone to select the specific ringtone you want. For notifications for specific apps, look in the settings for those apps. For example, I use the Handcent text app. That app has separate settings for a ringtone.
