Instrument Panel Problem

I have a bad instrument cluster. I was involved in an accident when I was hit right where the fuse box is located. I was told by the insurance company that the accident was not the cause. I find that hard to believe that it would simotaneously happen at the same time of the accident. Is this a common problem with 2008 mercury marquis?
