My Car Has To Be Slammed Into Park To Start.

I have a 2001 Grand Marquis GS. I have to slam the shifting cable into Drive 1 then slam it into park to start the car. Would like to know how to tighten the cable. Its getting to the point where it wont stay in park and rolls.
