New Battery But Car Not Starting

Recently purchased a 2000 Mercury Sable in an auction and had to place a new battery on it. While driving it home one of the hoses cracked and I'm thinking it got the electrical wiring wet and began to run hot and now the car will not start back up. I pulled over right away and let the car cool down. Can anyone tell me what this may be?

Check the side of terminals installed. If they are installed corect, then check the fuses. Even if you wrongly inserted, it is only the fuse that might get into probelm. If that is a case, replace the fuse. Someimes even if it is a new battery if it is not used, there may be a scale formation. please clean the terminala.
