Car Alarm System That Was Put In Years Agos

i got this 1994 grand marquis from my uncle as a gift, it previously had a serious alarm system installed. which had a red light that would flash by the light knob. which also had a button below closer to the gas and brake. If the light was ever flashing red I'd have to hold the button and turn the key and hold the brake to start it, if not I'd just have to crank it and hold the brake. i got off work and my car wouldn't start. What could be my issue. My light is acting weird . the light to the security system
