My Sable Turns Over But Won't Start

just replaced battery. car wl not start bit turns over. checked for fuel leaks n clogs. found none. fuel system is not plugged

There are three key factors to getting ignition in a car they are Fuel, Spark, and air. Since you have already checked the fuel lines and fuel filter that’s good, but what about spark? It could be the wires, the ignition coil, or the spark plugs. A good way to check is to do the following. First make sure your fuel pump is working. With your car door open turn your ignition key to the run position without cranking the engine over. For most vehicles this is the first key turn position away from you with all the lights on the dash lighting up. You should hear the fuel pump kick on as a very quiet humming or "werrrring" sound and if you hear it that’s good.

Step two turn the engine over a few times then remove a spark plug to check if the spark plug(s) are wet by removing one. Please consult a repair manual for spark plug removal in some cases they are underneath the manifold or intake and may require a lot of work to get to them. After removing the spark plug it may have a gas odor to it and appear to be wet. If it is than you are getting gas to the cylinder which is good.

Step three try having someone turn over the engine a couple of times while you have the spark plug wire connected to the plug and you holding the spark plug against some metal part of the block that can ground the plug you should see rapid blue sparks appearing on the end of the spark plug. This step should be performed with gloves to insure you are not the ground.

Once you have verified that you have spark and fuel there is only one other easy to fix solution and that is not enough air. Your air filter could be clogged to the point very little air will pass so check your air filter for debris and clogging then Replace if needed. If none of these issues are the problem you may need a mechanic for more serious trouble shooting. It could be a variety of problems that are harder to diagnose such as emission systems, electronic sensors, vacuum lines, and such.
