Paper Towel Clog The Gas Filler Pile ? Will It Damage The Car?

Someone put papertowel into my gas hole and I try to take out the trash, it end up push further down filler pipe. Eventlly i can not see the paper. What should I do now? can I still drive the car, is any filter between gas tank and filler pipe? Thank you

There is no filter between the filler tube and the tank. If the paper towel falls into the gas tank, it will break apart and clog the filter screen on the fuel pump. That could cause your car to run poorly or even stall and not restart. Very important to get that paper towel out of the filler tube before you put more gas in the tank.

The fuel filler tube is usually connected to the gas tank with a rubber hose. You should be able to go under the car and disconnect the rubber hose. It's just attached with a couple of hose clamps. That way, you will be able to reach up into the filler tube and pull the paper towel out of the tube.

If the paper towel ends up in the tank, you will have to drop the tank down and drain all the gas out and remove any bits of paper left in the tank. Big hassle, so you would be much better off getting the paper towel out of the filler tube before that happens.
