Bad Bearing In Maytag Bravos Mvwb700vq?

I have a nearly two year old Maytag MVWB700VQ washing machine and it is making a loud noise during spin. It has been getting louder during the past few days. I am nearly sure the bearing on the tub is bad but I would like some input from a more expert person if possible. I am mecahnically inclined and I would rather do all the work myself if possible.

It is the drive shaft bearing. It uses the same outer tub assembly as the Whirlpoool Cabrio washers. They are basically the same machine.  Read some of the Cabrio complaints.  I have a Cabrio and took it apart. It is the bearing. You can't buy just the bearing, you have to buy the entire outer tub assembly.

Hi, I had the same issue, I also had some dark brown/black splatter from under the machine that appears to be oil.  I called my local service center and was informed that this was a common symptom of the bad bearing.  I was informed that the repair required extensive dissasembly of the unit and that they would drop ship the parts to my home in a very large box.  I suspect that the tub, motor and bearing are all one integrated assembly.  Good Luck!

I had the same problem and had the outer tub assembly replaced.  The problem is poorly  made design in which if a single coin or multiple falls below the wash tub it disenegrates the bearing not to mention the coin.  I was also told that the home depot warranty service by a 3rd part company is going to stop allowing warranty if this should happen.  I love the washer except that the coin issue can and will happen in every household.
