Remove water using a sponge or baster to remove excess water from the freezer bottom and empty water into a large pan. Place pans of hot water in the freezer with lid open to speed melting. Use a plastic scraper to remove frost. NOTE: Do not use electrical appliances such as a hair dryer or heaters to speed defrosting.

I'm sorry to hear that your Maytag freezer is not defrosting. Let's see if we can troubleshoot the issue together and find a solution.

First, let's check a few things. Make sure that the freezer is plugged in and receiving power. Check if the temperature settings are properly set as well. If the power and settings are correct, the problem might be with the defrost system. Here are a few steps you can take to troubleshoot the defrost system:

1. Locate the defrost timer: It is usually found behind the control panel, inside the refrigerator section. If the timer is faulty, the defrost system won't work. Try manually advancing the timer to see if the defrost cycle kicks in.

2. Check the defrost heater: The defrost heater is located near the evaporator coils. It should heat up during the defrost cycle. Use a multimeter to test if the heater is receiving power. If it's not, it might need to be replaced.

3. Test the defrost thermostat: The defrost thermostat is responsible for sensing the temperature of the evaporator coils. If it's faulty, it may not send a signal to the heater to turn on. Test the thermostat using a multimeter to see if it's functioning properly.

If you're comfortable with performing these steps yourself, give them a try. However, keep in mind that if you're not experienced with appliance repair, it's best to contact a professional technician who can diagnose and fix the issue for you.

Remember, safety should always come first when dealing with electrical appliances. If at any point you feel unsure or uncomfortable, don't hesitate to seek professional assistance.

I hope this is helpful? PLEASE "ACCEPT" and mark it "HELPFUL" to complement my little effort. Hope to bring you more detailed answers.
