I Have A Maytag Washer Mvwx500xw2 That Randomly Stops During Any Of The Cycles.

Usually, but not always, the washer will operate correctly (i.e., finish the job) if the lid is opened and closed, the machine is unplugged and plugged back in, and then restarted. Also, an odor similar to electric motor or capacitor smell is noticed during these events.Any ideas will be much appreciated.
