. Mytag Mgr5755qdw Does Not Hold Correct Temp.

My oven is 8yrs. Old when Iput it on 350 degrees, it will not reach the correct heat setting. Repair man said I needed the whole upper panel (computer). Should I need this for an oven that I rarely use that is only 8 yrs old?
