How To Remove And Clean Bottom Filters

Remove the Coarse Filter
1Remove any dishware from the washer so that you can access the racks and interior. Roll out the bottom cleaning rack. If you want more working space, lift the rack and pull forward to release the wheels from the side runners and remove the entire rack.
2Locate the coarse filter. On a Maytag, the filter is at the bottom of the dishwasher to the front of the rotating spray arms. It is round in shape and contains a small, round knob at the top of it.
3Remove the coarse filter. Grasp the round knob by its top handle and pull it up. This will release the filter. You may then proceed to clean or replace the coarse filter.
Remove the Fine Filter
1Locate the dishwasher's fine filter, which is also located at the bottom of the dishwasher, surrounding the coarse filter.
2Grasp the round knob on the coarse filter you removed before, but instead of pulling upward, turn the knob counterclockwise. You will feel the knob and strainer release. Pull upward and the fine filter will be released (along with the coarse filter).
