Would Having Higher Speed Internet Improve My Lowsy Phone Reception Quality?

ever since getting Magic Jack our phone reception fades in and out. this is a real problem. considering upgrading our dsl speed to see if that helps. wondered if anyone has experience with this.

There are a couple of things you might try:

1. Magic Jack is heavily machine dependent. Connect it to your fastest machine and shut down all programs except Magic Jack. See if this makes a difference.

2. Note if there is a time/performance coorelation with your system. If you detect a pattern, look for windows, McAfee, or other auto update programs demanding cpu or hard drive attention.

3. Optimize your hard drive and take a long look at your system tray to see how many programs you have running. Every one demands machine cycles, and slows down every other function -- just like running the air conditioning in your car. You pay a price in both power and mileage.

4. Run a speedtest on your line connection. Your service provider can walk you through which one they like best. Old wire from your computer to their connection can severely reduce speed

Try getting your machine lean and mean to see if it makes a difference.
