Why Does Magic Jack Connection Keep Turning Off?

My parents have a MAC with Magic Jack loaded on it. The Magic Jack connection keeps turning off and saying "customer not available" when we call. It might work two calls out of ten. They are elderly and we need to be able to get in touch with them and vice versa. thanks for your help to this infuriating problem.
