Why It Always Appear Error 20 We Paid 3 Years Contract

If your magicJack reads “Error 20”, please make sure that you have allowed exceptions on your
Firewall/Antivirus for magicJack. The most common Firewall/Antivirus programs are listed
below. If your Firewall/Antivirus software is not listed, please refer to their web site or user
manual.
Norton
1. Open Norton Personal Firewall by clicking Start > All Programs > Norton Personal Firewall >
Norton Personal Firewall.
2. On the left, click the “Personal Firewall” button.
3. From the new options, press the “Exceptions” button.
4. From the new screen, press the “Add” button.
5. Navigate to the location where magicJack is installed, default is: C:\Doucuments and
settings\[your name]\Application data\mjusbsp
6. Select “magicJack.exe” and click B
7. If a dialog appears saying “You are attempting to add an application that already has rules”,
press “OK”.
8. From the “Application Rules Summary window”, select “magicJack”.
9. Press the “modify” button, a window called “Modify Rule” should appear.
10. Select the “Action” tab.
11. Select “Permit Internet Access”.
12. Press “OK” button.
McAfee
1. Open McAfee Personal Firewall Plus by clicking Start > All Programs > McAfee > McAfee
2. Personal Firewall (Plus)
3. Click “Internet Applications” in the left column.
4. Scroll down and select the “magicJack” entry.
5. In the Permissions column it needs to say “Allow Full Access”.
6. If it does not say that, press the button on the bottom right that says “Allow Full Access”,
verify that it has changed using last step.
Zone Alarm
1. Open ZoneAlarm by clicking Start > All Programs > Zone Labs > Zone Labs Security

2. Click the “Programs” tab on the right of the window.
3. From the list that is displayed, select “magicJack”
4. In the sections under “Access, Server, or Send mail” right-click the question mark or red X
and select “Allow”.
5. Once complete, everything should be green along the entire row.
AVG
1. Double click the “AVG” icon in the system tray (bottom right corner)
2. Click “Tools”
3. Click “Resident Shield”
4. Click “Exceptions”
5. Click “Add Programs”
6. Navigate to C:\Doucuments and settings\[your name]\Application data\mjusbsp
7. Select “magicJack.exe” and click “OK”
Windows Firewall
1. Click “Start”
2. Click “Control Panel”
3. If in “Classical mode”, jump to step 4. If in “Category Mode”, switch to “Classical Mode”
4. Double Click “Window Firewall”
5. Click the “Exceptions” tab
6. Scroll down through the list of programs and highlight magicJack if it listed and press the
“Delete” button and click “Yes” when prompted.
7. Click the “Add Program” button
8. Click the “Browse” button and navigate to C:\Doucuments and settings\[your
name]\Application data\mjusbsp
9. Click “magicJack” and click the “Open” button
10. Click “OK” and “OK”

1. Double click the Comodo icon in your system tray (bottom right corner)
2. Click “Firewall Tasks”
3. Click “Common Tasks”
4. Click “Define a New Trusted Application”
5. In the box that appears, click the “Select” button

corner)
2. From the left menu bar, Click “Firewall”
3. Click “Internet Access Rules”
4. In the “Programs” column, Click “magicJack.exe”
5. Change the rules “magicJack.exe” by selecting the icon for the rule. Click “Allow a
Connection”
6. Click “OK”
Sygate Personal Firewall
1. Double click the “Sygate Personal Firewall” task tray icon on your desktop
2. Click the “Applications” button on the top of the “Setting” window. Doing so will bring up a
new window with a list of applications
3. Find “magicJack” on this list, right-click the listing, and choose “Allow”
Armor2Net
1. Double-click the “Armor2net” task tray icon on your desktop.

3. Select the “Pass” radio button under the “Access Right” column for “magicJack” and close
the “Setting” window

1. Double click the “Desktop Firewall” icon in the system tray (bottom right corner)
2. Click “File”
3. Click “Settings”
4. Click the “Advanced” tab
5. Click “View/Edit Application list”
6. Right click on “magicJack.exe” and click “Allow Access”
EZ firewall
1. Right-click the “EZ task” tray icon on your desktop and select “EZ Firewall Control Center”
2. Select “Program Control” from the left menu
3. Select “Program” tab. This will show the current list of applications that EZ Firewall is
monitoring
4. If you see “magicJack” in this applications list, make sure that all five boxes for “magicJack”
have a green check. If they don't, you can click them and select “Allow” in the context menu
5. If you don't see “magicJack” in the “applications” list, click the “Add” button in the lowerright
corner of the window. Then browse to C:\Doucuments and settings\[your
name]\Application data\mjusbsp
6. Select “magicJack.exe” and click “OK”
7. Once you see “magicJack” in the list of applications, follow the instructions in step 4
CA Personal Firewall
1. Double click the “CA Personal Firewall” in the system tray (bottom right corner)
2. Click on the “Firewall button” (left panel)
3. Click the “Application Control” Tab (top right corner)
4. If magicJack.exe is listed, highlight it and click edit. Click the Allow button that appears on
the screen that pops up and click “OK”. If “magicJack.exe” is not listed, jump to step 5
5. Click the “Add” button
6. Navigate to C:\Doucuments and settings\[your name]\Application data\mjusbsp
7. Select magicJack.exe and click OK
Trend Micro Internet Security
1. Click Start >All Programs or Programs >Trend Micro PC Internet Security >MainConsole
2. Click “Network Security” on the left panel

4. Make sure that the checkbox for the “Protect computer from internet attacks” option is
marked
5. Go to the “Manage Profiles: section. Click the “active firewall” profile. This is the profile
name with an icon next to it
6. If the user needs to change to another profile, click the “Choose a profile” drop down box
and select the desired profile
7. Click “Apply” at the bottom
8. Click “Edit”
9. Click the “Exceptions” tab
10. Click “Add” to create a new rule
11. Provide a description to the new rule
12. Select “Specified Application” and click Browse
13. Navigate to C:\Doucuments and settings\[your name]\Application data\mjusbsp
14. Select “magicJack.exe” and click “OK”
15. You will need to create 2 separate rules, one for incoming traffic one for outgoing traffic
16. Select “Allow” for Action
17. Select “TCP/UDP for Protocol”
18. Select “All Ports”
19. Select “All IP Addresses”
20. Click “OK”. The Exception tab reappears
21. Make sure that the new rule is in the list and that the box beside it has a checkmark
22. Click “OK”. The Personal Firewall information reappears
23. Click “Apply” to save the new rule
