2011 Lincoln Mks - Awd Extensive Internal Damage To Automatic Transaxle.

Mileage on car is at 92,316. Is the transaxle the same as transmission? Is this problem a costly repair or should I look for another car? Have Just under 24 months left to payoff.

Yes it is expensive The Lincoln MKZ sedan tops the list of the most expensive car models to repair, with an average repair cost of trans-axle is $2,649 and its not same as transmission repair. Now it depends on you what you would be going with but its a necessary part for the car.

A transaxle is a single mechanical unit that takes a transmission and combines it with a differential that transmits the power from the transmission to the wheels. Repair is likely expensive but it's necessary if you want to continue to drive your car.
