Automatic Deployable Running Board And Air Shocks Related?

I have a passenger side running board that folds up and down randomly. I also thought I needed new shocks as the vehicle has started to ride too bouncy. The local mechanic tells me these two are likely related and I need to replace the motor for the running board. He removed the motor and it was corroded in the gears. There doesn't seem to be any used parts available. Are these systems related or will I get the running board fixed and then have to have the suspension fixed?

The airbag suspension system feeling too bouncy and the passenger-siderunning boards random deployment is certainly related. The airbags on the passenger side are not staying filled causing the bouncey ride. This could be a problem with the airpump itself or possible damage to the passenger-side airbags from potholes. The airbags are just heavy rubber balloons so are subject to leaks and blowing out altogether. The best advice would be to take it to your Lincoln dealership and have them run diagnostics on the air-ride suspension. The air-ride suspension warning on the dash wont necessarily be lit for there to be a problem.
