Message 'cover Open'

It keeps giving me the messagre "cover open" whre the cover is closed. Can't print or do anythinng with it at all. any idea on how to solve this? tried to google but didnt get any luck.   thank you,

Most likely the sensor of cover's opening is broken. You have to go to the service.

After getting the same message and calling a lexmark tech I was told that one of the hinges on the cover is probably broken especially if one side of the cover seems to siting  up higher than the other one,  and is not down completely....A mechanical problem.
