Lid Problem

The lid on my printer will not close all the way.  As you're facing the printer, it's the left back corner where the hinge is.  When I scan something it lets light in and ruins the scan. HELP!!!

I had the same problem.  If you look at the hinge, you will likely notice that the silver pin has slipped out of place.  If that's your situation, read on:  The hinge opening on the left side of the pin looks like a short "u".  The other side is a "C".  All you need to do is get it back in the C and it will sit right down in the U.  Open the next level (like you are changing the print cartridge.)  You'll notice you can push the bottom of the hinge assembly up.  This will give you enough wiggle room to slide the pin under the top of the C.  That's it!!

Just an fyi, if you registered online you're covered by a 5 year warranty and Lexmark's answer to this problem is to send you a new printer.  I wasn't under warranty.
