Lenovo N585 Hangs/freeze's

Hello, I just purchased a Lenovo N585 from bestbuy and have been having issues after installing some software and new memory. The memory I bought two 4GB memory sticks installed them and it reconize's it fine but when I ran Google Crome while playing a Game it Froze,Hung up had to press the power button to reboot. I have also install Avast Anti-Virus and all seemed to be fine as far as I can tell. But after a few min's if hangs and freeze's again Also have issues when I get onto facebook and play a game it hangs there also. Lost, Please help.... Thank you, Jeremy Allen

I am dealing with a N585 right now as well. Different problem though, seems the 1.4ghz CPU is a bit underpowered for everyday computing (flash player apps, streaming apps, etc.) Does great with 3d gaming, which it was pretty much built for.

As for your question. It requires that the memory be 1666Mhz. If you got 1066 or 1333, you may be having timing uses. Different brands of memory can be an issue as well. Stick to name brand memory brands like Kingston, Samsung, PNY (Which isn't actually a brand, but what's in the package is nearly always good stuff.)

Make sure that if you are mixing different speeds of memory, that the slowest memory comes in the first bank, the system will be more likely to time correctly. Common mistake though is to buy RAM that is not rated to keep up with the system bus speed, and 1666MHz (PC3-12800) is the standard for this notebook. Ok to get faster, but you'll likely have big issues if you got slower.
