First, double-check to ensure there are no visible obstructions or soap buildup in the area where the drawer slides into the washer. Use a damp cloth to thoroughly clean the drawer tracks and make sure there's nothing blocking or hindering its movement.
Since you mentioned the "disengage button" and pressing it should allow the drawer to slide back in, it's possible that the button may not be responding as intended. Try gently pressing and releasing the button to ensure it is not stuck in the depressed position.
Additionally, make sure there are no broken or damaged parts associated with the disengage mechanism that could be preventing the drawer from sliding back in. If pressing the disengage button doesn't seem to be doing the trick, it's possible that the angle at which the drawer is being inserted may be affecting its ability to fully slide in.
When reinserting the drawer, try angling it slightly upward at the front and gently pushing it in while keeping it level and straight. Sometimes, adjusting the angle at which it's inserted can make a difference in how smoothly it goes back in.
If all else fails, it may be beneficial to consult the user manual for your LG washer, as it may provide specific guidance on troubleshooting the soap dispenser drawer issue. Additionally, reaching out to LG's customer support for further assistance or to schedule a service repair appointment might be a good option to explore.
