Voice Mail Icon Won't Go Away

The voicemail icon won't go away. I called my voicemail. There are no messages, but the icon still shows on the screen.

Call yourself from another phone and leave yourself a short message. Then go into your voicemail and listen to and delete the message you left yourself and the problem will be resolved.
