How To Replace Glass Cooktop.

I have a KitchenAid KECD807XSS with a cracked ceramic/glass top.  I find part #W10296247 to repair this but my question is:  Do I have to remove the entire unit from the counter in order to replace the glass surface.   With the duct work and close space this is very difficult.  Any recommendations?
