Kenwood Kdc-bt7043u
Trying to update firmware but in the firmware update menu it keeps telling me "device full," however when I try to delete the devices it says that there aren't any, also this is the first time I'm updating this device so I'm presuming it's not the space allotted for firmware that is full. I was just wondering how I get past this stage and if I have made a mistake to get me to this stage?

I had the same problem, and couldn't upgrade the BlueTooth (BT) firmware until it was fixed (Kenwood's firmware upgrade requires a BT connection and a PC with BT support).
The "security clear" menu option seems to reset the entire unit, and this cleared the BT devices. I am about to try and upgrade the firmware to the most recent - lets hope that fixes it.

Also, just got this from Kenwood support - another way to reset it:
If you haven't already done so, please reset the radio by lowering the faceplate and using a pin to press the reset button just below the EJECT button. Once reset, check your device list once more. If there are any devices now appearing, delete them by doing the following:
1. Press the SRC button and select STANDBY.
2. Press the FNC button.
3. Push the control knob to the left.
4. Turn the control knob to select MENU and push the knob in.
5. Turn the control knob to select DEVICE DELETE and push the knob in.
6. Press and hold the control knob for at least 1 second.
7. Turn the control knob to select the device/phone and press the knob in.
8. Turn the knob to select YES and press the control knob in.
9. Press the FNC button to exit.

Actually, I think I was wrong about "Security Clear" - the manual just says that clears the security code, not the unit. My battery ran dead while I was trying things, and I think I mistook its affect for what happened when I tried Security Clear. In any event, the affect of the dead battery cleared the BT problem (and all my settings), making it possible to delete BT devices again. I took the opportunity to upgrade to the most recent BT firmware, but unless you have access to a bluetooth laptop this won't be an option for you. I suggest just resetting the unit the way Kenwood support says - it will probably have the same affect and allow you to delete BT devices again. Write down all your settings first though!
