07 Compass W-shield Wiper Quit. Jeep Svc Replaced Tipm, Wiper Motor, $1300?

Jeep Dealer Svc Department diagnosed problem as TIPM failure, $950 to replace. Problem persisted, diagnosed as wiper motor shorted, must be replaced Now at $1300.  How likely am I being ripped off?

Fairly likely they over-diagnosed the problem, they should hve checked the motor first but probably got tunnel vision that it was the TIPM. The more I've read on these things, the TIPM is a "smart" fuse box that cuts out so you don't fry everything if it sees repeated surges. The down side is, once it cuts a system out that system is dead- TIPM needs to be replaced. The go for anywhere from $300-$650 online for that part, the reprogramming is a joke your dealerships does it in 5 minutes but it has to be done with someone having the Star Scan system as it downloads directly from Chrysler. Basically, you are between a rock and a hard place, I won't buy a Jeep again myself after this experience I hope they got their moneys worth screwing me this time.
