The passenger side air bag is always active and you can't disable it. What you unplugged is the "staged" air bag seat position sensor. Based upon where the seat is adjusted is how much force is used if the air bag deploys. That's why infants/kids can't be in the front passenger seat of JK's. Only the 07 JK was equipped with a seat sensor that disabled the air bag if no one was sitting in the passenger seat. A light was triggered to let you know. You can always remove the seat but the air bag will most likely be active. You can check with the dealer, but most likely they would never disable an air bag.
