Insignia Ns-imp26sl0 Ice Maker

My Insignia Model: NS-IMP26SL0 Ice Maker is acquiring build up on the right hand side in the tray where the ice is made. I cannot get back there to clean it properly due to the silver mechanisms where the ice is formed. I was wondering if there is anyway to remove the top of the ice maker to clean it properly. Also I wanted to inquire on reasons why this would be happening. Thank you.

I understand your concerns about the ice build-up and cleaning difficulties in your Insignia NS-IMP26SL0 ice maker. Let's address both your questions:

Removable Top:

Unfortunately, the top of the NS-IMP26SL0 ice maker is not designed to be easily removed by users. Doing so could risk damaging internal components and voiding your warranty.

However, you have a few cleaning options without removing the top:

Warm Water Flush: Turn off and unplug your ice maker. Remove the ice basket and drain plug. Use warm water and a soft sponge to reach as far back into the ice tray as possible. Rinse thoroughly and drain the water through the drain plug. Allow the ice maker to air dry completely before plugging it back in.

Vinegar and Water Solution: After the warm water flush, you can use a dilute vinegar solution (1 part vinegar to 3 parts water) to further clean and remove mineral deposits. Dip a soft cloth or sponge in the solution and wipe the accessible areas of the ice tray. Rinse thoroughly with clean water and air dry completely.

Causes of Ice Build-up:

Here are some possible reasons why ice build-up might be occurring on the right side of your ice tray:

Uneven Water Distribution: A slight misalignment or imbalance in the water distribution system might be causing more ice to build up on one side.

Mineral Deposits: Hard water can leave mineral deposits on the ice tray, contributing to uneven ice formation and build-up.

Improper Ventilation: If the ice maker is not properly ventilated, excess moisture can accumulate and freeze, leading to build-up.

Defective Components: In rare cases, a faulty component like a pump or sensor could be causing the uneven ice formation.

Recommendations:

Regular Cleaning: Regularly cleaning your ice maker, even if it's just with warm water flushes, can help prevent build-up.

Use Filtered Water: Using filtered water can help reduce mineral deposits and improve ice quality.

Ensure Proper Ventilation: Make sure the ice maker is placed in a well-ventilated area with sufficient space around it.

Contact Insignia Support: If the build-up persists, even after cleaning, or if you suspect a faulty component, contact Insignia support for further assistance. They can help diagnose the problem and provide repair options if necessary.

I hope this information helps! Don't hesitate to ask if you have any further questions.
