Server Working Fine But Shows Amber Light

I suggest you have an imminent drive failure. If you have a raid array then the following applies. If not then it will need powering down. The drive that is failing will be the one with the orange light. Verify the correct drive. Be careful when removing the drive with a running system. DO NOT TAKE THE DRIVE OUT COMPLETELY. Take out the drive from the connector only an inch, so it is still in the cage. Then wait for the drive to stop before removing completely. If you remove the drive straight away you risk having a fractured wrist as the drive will still be spinning at 7200 rpm and the gyroscopic effect will twist your arm. If you then replace the drive with a new one it could take up to 24 hours for the raid array to rebuild depending on what raid you are using. You may already know what I have said but I give this information as a help to others who may not be so knowledgable.

amber light typically indicates a detected fault in the system. If the amber light is on a hot swappable drive then the drive has failed. If the light is on the chassis then the BMC (servers baseboard management controller) has detected an error within the chassis.
If this is a Dell server with a display, then the display should also be orange and indicate the error. If this is an IBM server with a lightbox, slide the lightbox out the light next to the description will indicate the error.
