Surging Problem With Husqvarna Yth20k42,kohler 7000

I am trying to access the govenor, which apparently is near the carburetor. The fly-wheel cover has four 8mm screws holding it in. Two are on the sideand two are behind -just beneath the gas tank. I am under the impression I need to remove the fly-wheel cover to access the carburetor. Does one need to remove the gas tank screws to accomplish this?

Why is my Husqvarna riding mower surging?

Problems in the Fuel System

Check and clean the vent. Surging is also caused by water that got into the fuel. A mower left in a heavy rain or condensation on a hot summer day can choke the engine. Empty the gas tank, properly dispose of the old fuel and try a fresh batch of gasoline.

How do I fix my lawn mower surging?

Inspect the vent on your gas tank's cap and clean it if it's dirty. Drain the gas tank, clean the gas bowl, and add a fresh batch of fuel. Or you can inject fuel cleaner to clean the fuel line. After changing the fuel or injecting fuel cleaner run the lawn mower as usual.

Clogged Air Filter

The air filter is the first thing you'll want to check when looking to fix your surging mower. If it's dirty, it starves the mower engine of the oxygen required for combustion.

First, disconnect the spark plug wire. Always take this safety precaution before performing any repair or maintenance on your mower. This prevents it from starting and causing injuries.

Remove the air filter and its housing.

Use soapy water to clean a foam filter. Once it dries completely, smear a light engine oil coating over its surface to help capture dirt and prevent it from ending up in the carburetor.

On the contrary, if you have a paper filter and it's too dirty for you to even see light through it, replace it with a new filter that's designed for your lawn mower model.

Wipe dirt out of the filter housing before installing the filter.

Solution for Surging Problem

The first thing to do is tried pulling off the carburetor and cleaning it.

checked the fuel pump and gas tank for blockage and see if it is sending gas fine. Surging is always due to insufficient fuel for the volume of air.

I checked the spark plugs.
