How Do I Get The Engine Cover Off To Replace The Rope Pull On The Husqvarna/lc 1

There are two screws or bolts holding the cover on but they are very corroded and I can't even see what type screwdriver - Philips or regular or a bolt. Any feedback is appreciated before I attempt to screw out the screws. It shouldn't be this hard.
