Engine Cuts Out When Cutter Is Engaged

I have a CTH 180 twin. It was working fine until today when I pull the plunger up to engage the cutters the engine shuts down The cutters are free as when I pull the plunger switch up to engage they rotate for a few seconds as the engine shuts down. The problem must be electrical but there is no wiring diagram with the instruction manual Any ideas would be appreciated Geoff
