I Have A Heat Pump System And My Thermostat Is Flashing Aux But The House

tempeture is only 56 deg. How can I be sure if the emergency heat is working.

You should be able to go to a vent & feel warm air. As you know a heat pumps heated air doesn't usually feel warm at the vent. If 56 degrees is below where you have the thermostat set then the aux or emergency heat kicks in to warm the air upward to the thermostat temp setting. In extremely cold weather a heat pump may struggle to keep up. Good luck!
