New Homeowner... The Home Has A T8700c. The Temperature Settings Don't Set. Help

I've set the wake and the sleep tempratures to 70, but my house temperature will drop to 56. When I attempt to change to the temporary setting, it doesn't hold. What could potentially be wrong? When forced air furnace comes on, it does heat the house. There seems to be a connection problem. Please help...
