Where Do I Submit A Claim? Hd's Incompetence Caused Me Added Moving Expense.
I have a horror story about Home Depot's carpet department. This is the short version. They were to install Martha Stewart throughout our remodeled townhouse on Dec. 15th & 16th, 2011. We had a Mayflower Company hired to move us on Dec 20th & 22nd, as we had to be totally out of our other house (which was sold) shortly after Christmas. Installers came MID-ATERNOON on the 15th with the carpet and unloaded it in our garage. After the two of them struggled to get several 12x26 pieces down in the basement, they discovered (as they were seaming it) that there were two different dye-lots of carpet. Their supervisor wouldn't allow them to use one of the bigger pieces from the garage for our Master Bedroom. My idea was that if we could use just one big piece, there wouldn't have to be any seams with the different dye-lots, and we could at least have one room done. As it turned out, all of our furniture had to be moved from our other house into storage. After many "no shows", and total incompetence, I gave up trying to deal with them, and asked for my money back. We walked on plywood for two months and ate off a cardtable while we waited for our refund and ordered carpet elsewhere. They left the mess in the basement and our garage for a month. We had to park our cars outside in the snow. The added moving expense was a direct result of Home Depot's inability to perform the tasks in the time frame for which they were contracted. The local Home Depot denied our claim last August, and as far as I know, they did not even submit it to Home Depot's claim department. I never heard from anyone from any claim department procedure. Shaw carpet said that the claim had to be submitted through Home Depot since they were the agent. Nobody will step up to the plate and admit any wrong doing... yet my husband and I, both senior citizens, had to sit on card table chairs for two months.
