Configure Amd Elite Quad-core To Run The Windows Phone 8 Emulator?
Before I bought this laptop (HP ENVY TouchSmart m6-k012dx Sleekbook) I did a fair amount of research - in particular regarding its processor, which is an AMD Elite Quad-Core A10-5745M, and everything I've read says that this should support SLAT, etc. But I haven't been able to make it work. Visual Studio says it can't start the emmulator, and sends me to the instructions about configuring both Windows and the BIOS to support it. I did the upgrade to 8.1 but that didn't change anything. This HP laptop, comes with "PC Hardware Diagnostics UEFI pages" and from there I can get to the BIOS. But the only thing I've been able to find and change is to enable Virtualization Technology. I can't find anything that is even vaguely SLAT or Second Level Address Translation, and DEP (Hardware-based Data Execution Prevention) also seems to just not be there. But my guess is that this machine can do it... but I just don't know how to find out for sure if that's true. I'd take back the machine if anyone can tell me that it can't support it. Has anyone out there been able to run the Windows Phone 8 emulator on a machine such as the AMD Elite Quad-Core A10-5745M ? Thank you for any pointers your can respond with. -Kevin Pammett
