Compatible Cartridges For Hp Deskjet 2050 All-in-one J510 Purchased From Salalah

The HP Deskjet 2050 is internally programmed to work with only original cartridges from it geographical region (US, Europe, Far East - I think). This means that although 122 cartiridges work in a printer that thinks it is in the Middle East, they won't work in a printer that thinks it is the UK (61 cartiridges work there).
But there is no need to bin your printer if you find it thinks it is some other region from where you are and the local cartridges don't work in it - with the "incompatible cartridge" error..
Simply contact HP support who will tell you (with the new incompatible cartridges installed) to hold down the power button, then press the cancel button and hold both for 10s. A "tap" page will print out - using the new and apparently incompatible cartridges!
Then email a scan of the "tap" page to them and they send back a special code unique to the printer that is entered from a hidden menu on the printer software. Type in the code and the printer reconfigures itself to think it is in your region - and hence the new cartriges suddenly start working!
HP support was great, even if i despise the market protectionist mechanations of HP behind this whole problem in the first place..
WARNING: The printer can only have its location changed 3 times before it hardcodes itself and can't be changed again!
