Cannot Turn Off The 2000 2d10nr Laptop

Just connected laptop and in the process of setup -- selecting country and language to be used. Decided not to proceed with setup since laptop is being sent outside of U.S. as a gift. i hit the power button but button continues to flash. How do I stop it so I can close the laptop and remove the battery.

Greetings. You need to press and hold the power button until it shutsdown. This may take around 5 seconds (so hold down the power button for that long). Yes you can remove the battery and the AC adapter for the purpose but the former is easier.
