Review Guidelines

Is there anywhere on the HelpOwl site where you can view guidelines for writing a review?  Are there any specific rules or minimum word counts?

Good Question

Here are some guidelines which will help your acceptance rate as you offer more answers to questions in the future.  Also
the guidelines provided here are also relevant to our sister site, ReviewOwl.com  if you are familiar with that site as well.

Causes for answer removal
1. Posting a question and then answering your own question is not allowed and will always be removed.
2. Be sure your answer is a direct response to the question at hand and is not merely providing more information about
the original question. An example would be: Q: My satellite Dish does not work? A:  Neither does mine, I have never liked my dish.
See how this may be a response to the question but it does not provide a solution.  Answers like this will be removed.
3. Simple yes or no answers don't offer a lot of value to the person asking the questions and are subject to removal.
Also answers that are consistently accepted provide some detail to the question being asked.
4. Redirecting the person asking the question somewhere else will mostly result in removal, unless the site they are being redirected to
is specific to the question being asked.
Example:   Q: My car's gas mileage is poor, what should I do? A: Google it.  or A:  Call the manufacturer.
See how both of those answers merely passed the buck to another location and still left the person asking the question
with more work and not an answer?

Using the same example here is an example of an answer that would be accepted.

Q: My car's gas mileage is poor, what should I do?  A:  Here is an article that talks about the fuel economy of the
Ford Focus. It appears that the timing belt my be to blame.  See how this answer is very specific and provides
direct information.  Also anytime you provide a link to another resource it mostly likely will be accepted.  (Provided that the link
is relevant)

Features of Answers that will be accepted.

As long as the answer you provide is revelent, provides some sort of solution and has at least a moderate amount of detail
it will be accepted.

There is no minimum word count.
