We Have The Hayward Xtreme Filter Model Cc1000 Linked To A Speck Variable Speed

We have Hayward xtreme filter CC1000 linked to a speck variable speed pump. When we clean the filter it requireS such such excessive man power to tighten the lid back on. Are we doing something wrong
