Salt Levels Stay At 3400

I went on vacation about 6 weeks ago and put in extra salt for while I was gone. The indicator shows the salt level at 3400 and has been that way for 6 weeks. Usually I have to add salt about every 4 weeks. I'm concerned that the salt levels have not dropped in over 6 weeks. I test the chlorine levels every day and they are still good. Should I worry about anything?

You shouldn't have to add any salt once you achieve the correct ppm as the salt doesn't get used up and the salt level should stay the same unless the salt level becomes diluted due to rain (or filling) or becomes more concentrated due to evaporation of the pool water. It's also a good idea to check your salt level with test strips or a drop test kit rather than just relying on the readout on the chlorinator because the reading on the unit can become inaccurate over time, especially if the cell is beginning to fail and it's better to have to replace just the cell then to have to drain and refill the pool and re-balance the chemistry.
