My New Hamilton Beach 76606 Rotates But Does Not Open The Can. What Can I Do?

My Hamilton Beach 76606 didn't cut either so I bought a new one it did the same thing that is it would go around and not cut after about a year or so of sevice. I took them both apart. First take the 4 Philip head screws out for the back. with the case open I took a flat blade screw driver and removed the driver-gear/wheel. behind this is a small shim that i removed and this compensated for the wear on the drive gear/wheel, making the squeeze tolerance smaller. That is how easy it really is. I couldn't find this any where online so I just took it apart blind and went by Braille, While I had them apart I took out the rotating lip/cutter/wheel with again the flat blade screw driver, one of the units was gummed up and wouldn't turn, so I scraped of the residual crude and petroleum jellied everything before reassembling. NOW MY WIFE HAS TW0 HB CAN OPENERS THAT WORK! If they fail again down the road I am assuming they will I figure that I may have to take a bit off the back of the drive gear/wheel with my belt sander or file to get the squeeze gap down to where it should work again.
