Hamilton Beach Brew Station Won't Brew Says Pour Water

Inside the base is a coil that heats the water. You have to remove the screws on the bottom to get to it. On the side of the coil is a temperature sensor that has wire leads that are soldered to the remainder of the electronics. When the coffee maker finishes brewing and no more water flows into the coil to cool it, the coil heats up and the sensor sends a "hot" signal so that the coffee maker turns off the heating coil. It fails "hot". When the sensor fails it thinks that there isn't any water in the coil and instructs you to pour water in. It will then shut itself off to prevent damaging the coil.
Sometimes the check valve going into the coil will clog because of calcium deposits, but this is rare unless you have really hard water. This can be fixed by pouring some vinigar into the coffee maker (mentioned in manua). Don't use acid cleaners that are toxic and corrode metal. It's too hard to sefely rinse it.
